The Ashes of Humility

The Ashes of Humility

“For word came unto the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, and he laid his robe from him, and covered him with sackcloth, and sat in ashes.” – Jonah 3:6

Ashes ain’t beautiful likewise humbling ourselves, but when we do humble ourselves, God comes close and then lifts us up to glorious heights, making us to ride on the high places of the earth.

As a mortal man, i got thinking of the very thoughts that was passing through the mind of our Lord and Savior Jesus when he was washing the disciples feet in John 13, his thoughts was for us to have a part of him see John 13:8.

Jesus is so much a perfect example of everything a Christian needs to succeed. He exhibited the highest form of humility ever, such as never seen before neither will ever be seen. And by such acts, God lifted him up and exalted him, for God loves the humble; he has respect unto them. See Psalm 138:6.

And so therefore, when we find ourselves sitting in the ashes of humility, we should only let one thing pre-occupy our mind and thoughts; to have a part with the Lord, to be one with him.

King Nebuchadnezzar was Humbled by the Lord

Our Ego’s often love to glorify a weak and dying mortal body, if we let this egocentric thoughts get into our heads and minds, then humility becomes difficult, and the only way God can deal with such a mind is punishment. See Daniel 4 : 29 – 31. It is better to sit in ashes and wait for mercy, than to sit on the seat of the scornful and receive judgment. Humility is a lifestyle, and it flows from the Life of the Son of God in me to everyone i come in contact with.

Let us rise from the throne of pride and high looks like the King of Nineveh did, and be abased for the Glorification of the Lord and you’ll be surprised by the lofty heights the Lord will lift you up to.
